The Burundi Early Childhood Platform (BECP) is a national, non-political, and non-denominational organization dedicated to advancing Early Childhood Development (ECD) in Burundi.
Founded in September 2023, BECP serves as a unifying platform that brings together all organizations, institutions, and experts working to improve the lives of young children across the country.
Our work focuses on promoting the holistic development of children — from conception to age eight — recognizing this critical period as the foundation for lifelong learning, health, and well-being.
BECP complements the ongoing efforts of the Government of Burundi, which has made significant strides in supporting early childhood through initiatives such as free childbirth, free healthcare for children under five, school canteens, and free primary education. Together with government partners, civil society, and international networks, we aim to strengthen and sustain these efforts for the benefit of future generations.
As a proud member of the African Early Childhood Network (AfECN), BECP collaborates with regional and international partners to share knowledge, influence policy, and promote innovative practices that support children and families across Africa.
To enhance the capacity of stakeholders, influence the improvement of policies and laws for child rights protection, and promote advocacy and targeted programs that ensure increased investment in early childhood development.
A Burundi where all young children enjoy their rights safely and their well-being is ensured in harmony with families, communities, and society.
